Directors Corner

When most of us think of the 1950's we think of Rock-n-Roll, greasers, hot rods, Elvis, Annette, Fabian. Howerver, there was a "flipside" to this era - the side of harmony, innocence and sincerity of dreams.

It is the side that's been lost in the shuffle of progress.

It was a time when most parents and kids listened and danced to the same music: when families partook of the ritual of gathering in front of the TV to watch their favorite variety shows like the Ed Sullivan Show or the Perry Como Show. It was a time when every family worked hard to fulfill the American Dream. The Plaids dreamed of becoming like their idols - The Four Aces, The Four Lads, The Four Freshmen and the Crew Cuts.

Let Sparky, Smudge, Jinx and Frankie carry you back to the decade of dreams as they soar into the delicious four-part harmonies of the songs you remember and love. This musical will put a smile on your face, a tap in your toes and tune in your heart. Although I was not around at the time this production takes place, I was well informed of everything that was going on at the time by Rolan and Terry (oops, did I say that?) I hope that this will bring back wonderful memories for those of you who lived in this era. For those of you who are not old enough to know what it was like, sit back and let your mind take you to our Plaid world. Forever Plaid - a name that connotes the continuation of traditional values, of family, home and harmony.

I would like to thank my wife Laura for supporting me in this adventure of directing this play and Terry Brooks for being the music director for the show and thanks to the musicians, cast members, and production staff without all of you it could not be done!

HERE COME THE PLAIDS!
